With fall in the air and the holidays around the corner, many small business owners are preparing for the busy season and mapping out goals for the next year. To help small business owners put some extra holiday cash in their pockets, we-re awarding $75,000 a month in hiring grants through our Love a Local Business grant competition. Each month, three small businesses will be awarded $25,000, helping them grow and hire new employees. Since the program’s inception, we’ve awarded more than $800,000 to 135 small businesses, with the goal of donating over a million dollars to America’s small business owners.

The first winner of our October-December contest is WEBIT Services, Inc. in St. Charles, Illinois. Located west of Chicago, the company provides small businesses with information technology services, including help desk support, hardware, business continuity planning, and hosting solutions. The winning vote came from Dlb, who writes, “WEBIT services employees are professional and knowledgeable. This company improves the community by offering a very important service.”

Founder and President Eric Rieger incorporated WEBIT Services in 1996 after growing it from a side business. A staff of six currently supports around 100 clients.

Over the past year, the company has experienced tremendous growth. Rieger says the hiring grant will let him offer a full-time position to his office manager, who recently joined the team on a part-time basis. Additionally, he hopes to expand his technician team to continue providing great support to his expanding client base. The team is also passionate about giving back to the local community, donating its time and services to organizations like Loves & Fishes and Triple Threat Mentoring. “I can’t thank you and Intuit enough for this. You’re really giving us a shot in the arm heading into 2012,” writes Rieger.

WEBIT Services is the first of nine hiring grant winners that will be considered for a Grand Prize that will double one lucky winner’s grant to $50,000. With so many opportunities to win, it’s not too late to nominate your business at LoveALocalBusiness. com to qualify and rally your fans to vote.

Winners are randomly drawn from small business nominations and fan votes accumulated during each contest period and will be notified a few days after the contest period ends. The dates in which votes are considered for each drawing are as follows:
